About

Ness began singing before she could talk, developing appreciation for a broad range of musical genres. In 2011, she recorded Ten Thousand Miles, a variety album exploring covers and original work. She has also participated in virtual choirs and recorded soundtrack for Lucas Studios Australia. She is a truly versatile cross-over artist who is never happy in any one box.

During her tertiary studies at The University of New England, she studied advanced classical voice under Opera Australia countertenor, Tobias Cole, and much loved soprano Louise Page, as well as participating in masterclasses with Yvonne Kenny, Andrea Katz and Marilyn Richardson, and appearing in various productions throughout the Canberra region. She also undertook tuition in the unique Sephardic and ancient Hebrew vocal traditions with acclaimed artist, Anna Riveiro. She has experience in Celtic, folk, pop, musical theatre and light rock and jazz. At the close of her degree, she left the opera scene to use her music for Jesus exclusively.

Influenced by ambient electronic and progressive rock styles, her classical track morphed when she discovered electronic composition techniques. In 2020, she studied piano as a distance student with The Worship Music Academy and became fast friends with her autoharp, Phillipe. She is now a freelance musical artist, embodying the term 'versatile,' incorporating an eclectic range of training to make up her hybrid musical palette.

NEW EP SERIES!

The Unplugged Adventures

This series of variety albums celebrates a range of interesting raw and natural acoustics, from ambient architectural structures and suburban constructions to caves and river settings. Each EP is recorded on location in a 'single take' style. Minimal editing and sound processing is employed - the goal of this series is to portray the lovely, raw quality of the natural spaces as they are. The Unplugged Adventures aims to celebrate Australian culture and architecture in the iconic places visited, as well as support the creative arts and explore a fusion of minimally processed acoustic spaces with Ness' classically trained vocals. It expresses Ness' spontaneous vocal style, seizing the Moment in newly discovered spaces.

Primarily a cappella, some acoustic instrumentation is utilised for particular arrangements. With the exception of specific editions, instrumentation is kept to a minimum to allow each natural space to maintain aural prominence.

The first in the series, The Tunnel, was recorded in a reverb-rich underpass and combines classical vocals with an ambient city soundscape. Listen now on Spotify and other digital music platforms, and check out the live music videos on YouTube!
